GOAL: To create a simplified time-saving am beauty ritual that sets a feel good positive tone for the day and keeps you looking fresh and pretty the whole day through.
SKINCARE: Skin care is an important part of the self nurturing regime. Use a cleaner to clean, a serum to treat and age gracefully, and any moisturizers with sun protection that address your moisturizing needs. Select products that are clean and have a pleasant scent to really create a few moments of self-nurturance and centeredness.
Make your daily skin regime one that you enjoy...and remember you don't have to spend a lot!
TIP: Skin care should change with the seasons (like make-up!) as your skins need change.
A WORD ON BRUSHES: Brushes are a must have tool for make-up artists, no question. However, when pressed for time in the morning using clean fingers here and there to pat and blend as a substitute will cut down on time and do a reasonably comparable job. On days when you want to perfect your make-up, create a bit more detail or for special occasions pull out your set of quality brushes to create a look with a bit more pizzazz!
HERE WE GO...
Primer: Give your make-up the staying power...
A good primer is a girl's best friend. You want a primer that doesn't have a lot of silicone in it, especially if you have oilier skin. Primer creates the barrier between your skin care and your make-up that prevents the natural oils on your face from breaking down your make-up,..giving your base tons of staying power! Primer also minimizes fine lines, locks in moisture and gives healthier looking skin foundation glides beautifully over skin. A good primer primes the face the same way we prime a canvas before painting.
Foundation: You want a foundation that has good coverage and still looks natural. This will eliminate the amount of time spent on using congealer under the eye and to cover other skin imperfections.
Concealer: One concealer that multi-tasks. Medium weight concealer will cover imperfections and can be used as an under-eye concealer as well and even an eye base for shadow when your really short for time.
Cream blush: Using your middle finger dab a small amount on the apples of your cheeks work your way up and out to hair line until it is well blended.
Powder: Once all of your crèmes are in place you now want to set using a light dusting of translucent pressed powder pressed into the skin starting with the tea zone. U want a finely milled powder and remember less is more! If you’re using a quality powder you shouldn't see it or feel it on the skin. This is the final step in giving your make-up that 14 hour staying power.
Brows: Use an eye pencil to softly fill in the sparse areas and give definition to the brows. (Blondes, look for an eye pencil that has an ash tone to it rather than an orangey tone to keep it looking natural)
Eyes: Light base color, a shade or two lighter than your skin color. Apply a neutral shadow in the crease with your crease brush.
Liner\mascara: A good gel liner placed closely to the top lashes.
Bronzer: An illumination bronzer dusted on the high points of the face, and may be used as a blush as well.
Lips: A gloss that will perk up your pretty pout. If you want your gloss to have staying power use a lip liner underneath
